History

In the Fall of 2007 Bishop Thomas W. Suey’s 25-year burden for a Christian school came to a tipping point. For years he prayed in Sunday School classrooms (our current classrooms) and felt a conviction that these classrooms were only being utilized a few hours every week. In January of 2008 Mid-America Preparatory School was birthed out of a committee of parents and educators who carefully and meticulously began researching the prospect of a school in Herrick. This committee met multiple times per week for several months. It was quickly realized that it was not just church leadership and the parents’ desire for a Christian school, but that this was a design by our Creator! We were stepping into the perfect will of the Almighty God “for such a time as this!”

On September 2, 2008 Mid-America Preparatory School opened its doors for the first time and 39 students walked in to what God had pre-destined for their lives. Since that day, with God’s leading, MAPS has not looked back! We are a group of Christians that strive to serve God as He guides us closer to Him. As a staff, we are the ones who are the recipients of many blessings as we see young people on fire for the Lord. I can’t explain the atmosphere that is here every day…I guess it is best described as a school just the way that Jesus would want it to be. We have seen God provide opportunities to reach out and minister to area Christian families who want the very best that God has to offer. It has been confirmed over and over that what we are doing is a relevant, necessary, thriving ministry based on the Living Word!
